Shore jigging & casting
29 rod series from 5 Japanese makers, 2.13 m (7'0") to 3.96 m (13'0").
Long rods for throwing metal jigs and plugs at fast fish from rocks, breakwaters and beaches.
The makers file these under Shore casting(ショアキャスティング)、Shore jigging(ショアジギング)、Medium to large pelagics (aomono)(中~大型青物)、Yellowtail over 10 kg, amberjack to 12 kg(ブリ10kg以上 / ヒラマサ&カンパチ ~12kg)、Rock-shore lure casting(ロックショア). We only group the makers’ own categories together — we do not decide what a rod is for.
How to choose
The metal-jig weight you can cast comfortably decides the rod: look at the lure rating (often 20–60 g, more for the heavier rods) and at rod weight, because you will cast for hours. Longer rods (9–10 ft, 2.7–3.0 m) reach further from rocks and breakwaters. A 4000–5000 size spinning reel with PE 1.5–2 is the usual match.
