Trout
55 rod series from 5 Japanese makers, 1.118 m (3'8") to 4.57 m (15'0").
Two different games share this shelf. "Area" trout means stocked ponds fished with tiny spoons; native trout means wild fish in rivers and streams. Daiwa labels its lures separately, and both labels are shown below.
The makers file these under Native and area trout(ネイティブ・エリア)、Trout(トラウト)、Trout & fly(トラウト・フライ)、Cherry salmon (sakuramasu, satsukimasu)(サクラマス・サツキマス)、Trout (yamame, amago, char, rainbow)(トラウト(ヤマメ・アマゴ・イワナ・ニジマスなど))、Fly、Native trout、Area trout. We only group the makers’ own categories together — we do not decide what a rod is for.
How to choose
Two very different games share this shelf. For stocked ponds (area trout) look at the lightest rods and lures of 1–3 g; for rivers and streams (native trout) the rods are a little longer and the lures heavier. A 1000–2000 size spinning reel suits almost everything here. If a lure lists a single hook type, that is usually for pond rules.
